Jonathan Trott made his supporters and team proud when he scored a brilliant century. By doing so he placed Warwickshire in the strongest position post the opening day of Specsavers County Championship Division Two competition against Durham. Trott was a patient at the crease to achieve his hundred of the season for the second time at Emirates Riverside after he achieved victory in the north east at the Royal London One Day Cup match. Matt Salisbury did lead the way for Durham as he took three wickets with the ball. Although, it was not a pleasant day at the field for the home side as there was a whole lot of challenges piled up for them to get back to the competition.
Undoubtedly, Trott did bring a sense of contentment to the innings as he along with Dominic Sibley tried to ensure that there were no more dismissals prior to the first break. But, for delivery post the restart of the match Sibley was pinned by Rushworth in 27 as he missed a delivery. Thereafter, Trott utilized his experience to give some stress to the Durham bowlers. While doing so, he showed his tolerant attitude and nous in the innings. The intensity of the match was increased by Ambrose and Trott. Jointly the duo managed to manipulate the pink ball to achieve their fifty partnerships. Trott did show his brilliant performance as he achieved a century, which brought a sense of calmness.
